Author Bart Brevik Wins 2011 New York Book Festival

I am excited to announce that my upcoming (yet-to-be-published) novel An Infidel In Babylonia has won the 2011 New York Book Festival in the Unpublished Stories category. This is a great honor for me, especially coming less than two months after the release of Outer Darkness. See the press release link below. The Official Launch of Outer Darkness

Dear Friends:

I want to take this opportunity today to announce the official launch of my first novel, OUTER DARKNESS. The official release date was Saturday, 4/2/2011.

As some of you know, I completed this book and made a limited preliminary release quite awhile ago. Since that time, I have received some favorable reviews of the book, won an award, and a couple finalist positions in nationwide book award competitions.

Now, I have obtained a publisher, Black Bed Sheets Books, a horror publisher in the Sacramento area. I am celebrating this milestone of officially releasing my first book the public in the hope that many of you who know me (and those who don’t) will read and enjoy it. For those of you who, like myself, grew up in the Conejo Valley, you will be interested to know that the backdrop for the book is the Westlake Village area.

The book will be available through numerous retail venues, but the Black Bed Sheets e-Store is the official launch site. Please paste in the link below, or simply Google Black Bed Sheets Books.

My Trip to Ireland and England

I recently returned from a trip to Ireland and England; part business and part pleasure. In Ireland, I stayed mostly in Clonmel near work, but visited Dublin on the weekend, which was great. There's a reason they call it the Emerald Isle - it rained part of every single day I was there! As a result, it's very green year round.

England is also very beautiful and green. I was able to visit the in-laws with my wife and daughter on the Isle of Wight, which was good. On the return from Ireland, we stayed in central London, an entirely different environment. All in all, it was a wonderful trip, and I look forward to returning some day soon.
